Our next event has been long overdue, but we're happy to announce our annual Iftaar of Intent III has been scheduled for September 4th, 2009 at the elegant Capitol Banquet Hall. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.

The event is being brought to you by The Care Factor, in association with Islamic Relief Canada, and is dedicated to helping with the Humanitarian Relief Effort in North Western Pakistan.

This fundraiser held by CAMP Toronto dedicated members and executive was what led to the creation of CAMP Cares for Communities, a charitable wing to CAMP Toronto to help in local and international disasters. Through this successful fundraiser, we raised over $12,000 which helped in the rebuilding of Aceh. We gave our cheque to the Indonesian Consulate office of Toronto. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami is the sixth-deadliest natural disaster in history by estimated death toll of 280,000 (Wikipedia sources).
CAMP Toronto executive leaders and dedicated members came together to help in this humanitarian cause to raise money for those affected by the Tsunami. Over 12,000 was raised through fundraising efforts which took place at the IMO, Toronto location. The cheque was presented to the Indonesian Consulate office. This devastating disaster was what lead to the creation of CAMP Cares for Communities an offshoot of CAMP Toronto to help in charitable work locally and around the world. The organization led by Urz Heer, Shireen Khan, Billal Qureshi, Nosheen Warsi, Iffat Syed and Sameer Akhtar who later became directors of the charitable organization was just the beginning of annual efforts to come. |
